Corroded

Our son returned from a trip to Dundee the other night and reported a loud metallic sound at slower speeds. The car performed well.

My call to our garage when it opened this morning clarified that a booking could not be made for 10 days and they could not advise whether it was safe to drive. At their suggestion I rang the AA: thank heavens for home start.

Within half an hour the van arrived, advised me that the backplate behind one of the front brakes will have corroded, and within 10 minutes the faulty part had been removed and the car was fit to drive without the metallic noise.

Car now booked in to get the replacement fitted .

Apparently this is not a rare event but it is the first I have experienced and it did sound noisy.
