The accidental finding

By woodpeckers

'Morning, all!

Indie woke me by trying to get into bedroom. She had been shut out for the crime of having woken me up at 4.30 the previous morning, by being sick on my pillow. What a charming beastie!

GG came round at 11. The weather was still crisp and cold, and we drove over to Stratford Park and set off for a walk around the frozen lake and along the miniature railway line. From there we took the new-ish woodland trail, along the ridge, and from there we headed back across frozen grasslands, back to the car. It was a short walk, but I didn't want to go far from civilization in case either of us broke a leg or sustained another injury. (Since when did I start thinking like this?)

We had a cold chicken for lunch, courtesy of GG. CleanSteve joined us, and after our repast we all got ready to go to the concert in Nailsworth. Steve had to drive three of our crowd, and GG took A, from down the road. Another driver was picking up three more passengers nearby. Two more people joined us in Nailsworth. Organising transport without the use of the Gloucestershire community minibus has been very time-consuming, but it was totally worth the hassle. We arrived in good time and got front row seats, and the Baroque programme by the Bristol ensemble was stunning, especially Handel's Concerto Grosso Op 6 no.11 in A major, which was performed by no less than ten member of the ensemble: four violins, two violas, two cellos, a double bass and a keyboard. The oboe was plaintive and stirring in JS Bach's oboe and violin concerto.

At the tea afterwards we discussed recent deaths and funerals of mutual acquaintances, the round-up of new diagnoses of dementia, and even a potential legacy. On a positive note, if I could get the people who make the after-concert cakes to cater for my own funeral, I'd be more than happy. The cakes look tempting and taste-tingling, and there wouldn't need to be many gluten free! Must get that plan done.

CleanSteve and the other drivers got us home, and I made chicken noodle soup. I shall have chicken sandwiches for lunch tomorrow, and chicken fajitas for dinner. It's clearly a very long time since we had a whole cooked chicken! They've probably quadrupled in price since then.
