Strathaven Memorial
Easier day today. Kicked off with the apple and almond bun got from the bakery yesterday, then set off to Strathaven. P had an induction to start his placement there and I did a bit of shopping and had a wander round the town whilst I waited for him.
The memorial is on what seems to be the highest point of the town and has some cracking views, a good spot to stay and comtemplate for a bit.
After picking P up we stopped for a short walk at the Spectale E'e falls on the way home. Apparently they are so-called as there used to be a mill there (you can see some signifcant remains) and the mill owner didn't like his prospective son-in-law. So said prospective son-in-law left his glasses on the thatched roof which burnt the place down... Not sure that's the naming story I'd choose! Falls are pretty spectacular but at a bad angle for blipping.
Apple pie in the oven and it might be an early tea today.
Edit: really enjoyed the recent 'What makes this song stink' podcast where Pat Finnerty was telling us aout how terrible 'Marvin Gaye' by Charlie Puth was, not in the least because of the association of Mr. Gaye's name with such as terrible song. To summarise, the first line of the song goes "Let's Marvin Gaye and get it on", which tells you pretty much all you need to know about how much the song stinks.
