Sandstone Landscape

The builders returned today to get on with the fun part of the patio - laying the sandstone slabs. As sandstone is a natural product, formed over millions of years, you expect to see lots of variations in colour and layers. What none of us expected was this amazing slab with fossilised leaves etc, looking just like an abstract painting of a landscape:-) We're not sure exactly how to display it yet, but it was far too good to lay flat on the patio! ( I realised after I'd taken this picture that it would probably have shown up better if it was wet.) Worth going Large to see the detail!

The poor builders had more fun than they reckoned on, with massive hailstones interrupting work several times this afternoon. Then the sun would come out and it would be really warm. We got to see the patio in all weathers and were delighted at how it changes colour when wet.

They'll be back tomorrow to finish it off (weather permitting) and I'll blip the finished article.
