Country air

Beautiful sunny crisp cold day. We started our day with bacon rolls and wrapped up warm before walking round to the pottery workshop round the corner. All set up for our introductory session on the wheel…first time I’d ever done this and a Christmas present from our family secret Santa. Beautiful views over the snow covered hills from the workshop and interesting watching the potter showing us how to do it….of course it turned out nowhere near as easy as it looked!
We made three (my first one collapsed after it had been standing on the side later though!) then stopped for a coffee and chat and a play with her daschund puppy before doing a final one. It was a lot of fun but hard to get the technique right and it felt like we had no chance of choosing what shape to make….each lump of clay kind of ended up in the shape it wanted to despite rather than because of our attempts!
Home and it was so lovely we decided to go for a walk around the local fields and along the river. So beautiful and good to be out in the sunshine. Could have been muddy but luckily the ground was frozen so easy walking and I think (or am I imagining it?) that my breathing is easier after a couple of weeks of using my inhaler.
Left Paisley to sleep after her walk and we went into Kelso, browsed some charity shops, a country shop with everything from cosy clothes to dog treats and horse equipment, and had tea and some delicious cakes in the lovely little French deli and bistro.
Home and I made supper whilst A lit the fire, and afterwards I couldn’t face driving home in the cold and dark so decided to stay another night.
Lovely day
