Treason Exhibition at the National Archives

A busy day..first to Kingston to JL collect my repaired laptop which seems fine, then to Sainsburys to collect some things ordered via Argos. Back home the cot bed I advertised on Freecycle at 8.30am was picked up by 12! 

Then on the bus to Kew where I met friends to go into the National Archives where we went round the Treason exhibition. The poster is a reference to Guy Fawkes. It was interesting and well put together.   but…lots of info to read and the only artefacts were documents so not as good for me as some previous exhibitions which have more objects and artefacts. Lots of info about all the people who have been be headed, hanged or boiled!

So few people there today but I do like the building ( see extra) and how spacious it is. You can also use lots of computers to research your family history using the ‘Findmypast” platform for free, if you use it at home you have to pay a hefty annual fee. I checked out both my parents from the 1921 and 1939 censuses. I knew the details before but was just checking! You can also research who lived in your house from the censuses…if it was built before 1921 or 1939!

In the evening we went with our friends to try out a new Greek restaurant in Twickenham…..very traditional Greek food with huge portions…..if we go again we do not need pitta AND chips with our main course! Nice flavours and lovely service, I think  from the owners.
