Birthday girl

It was another hot, sunny day today.  We were still having breakfast when a friend invited us to go for a walk, which we did.  We had a lovely walk with her and another friend, followed by coffee.  We just had time to go home, shower and change before we were due at my sister and brother-in-law’s for lunch.  It was so nice to spend some relaxing time with them both.

The friend who invited us to go walking also invited us to dinner, but we’d already booked at our favourite restaurant, La Vista, so we suggested she and her husband join us there, which they did.  We had a most enjoyable evening, made even more fun by having people we knew sitting at the tables on either side of us.

My tickle throat hasn’t been too bad today, for which I’m grateful.

We’re home now and tomorrow is catch-up time for emails and dipping into blip friends’ journals.

Some interesting things we saw on our walk are included in the blip, as is the delicious dessert my sister made - no sugar other than the icing sugar on top and no pastry.  It looked just like a rose.  Beautiful.  The tall structure is a community art project intertwined with important safety signage and provides up-to-date information on beach conditions. Elements like water quality, risk of illness, tides, surf lifesaving services and water conditions are made available via the safeswim.org.nz website. Over the past few months, hundreds of rocks were painted by members of the community, which were then used to form the foundation of the new Safeswim sign for Pt England.
