Tunnel of love

When I first moved to Kirkby Lonsdale, there wasn't an Indian restaurant. A few years later, when it was rumoured that there was one moving into the town, there was a huge local outcry. As is so often the way with these things, the people who quite fancied a curry house just hoped it would happen, while the minority who didn't want one made a huge amount of noise and said that they represented the majority.

Happily, the restaurant appeared and was an instant hit. The people running it came over from Bradford each day and the food was excellent. I spent many happy evenings there, including the one where I saw one of the most vocal opponents to the restaurant in there, tucking into a large curry and swigging lager.

Over the years the restaurant has changed hands a few times and even moved location. Now it's tucked away, just above the courtyard that is reached by going through this alleyway. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend it, and if you like spicy food, then you must try their dish with the curious name of "Bob's special"!

(I assume it was a dish created for and enjoyed by Bob, and not a celebration of what a special guy he was.)
