8 years of empirical research has failed to disprove this notion. Someday, I'll head to Belfast for a hire car, and conduct the journey using the secret warp drive fitted to all Northern regs**, but I'll probably be caught by a black hole, or attacked by Klingons, or otherwise detained until the requisite 23 minutes has elapsed!

* AA Roadwatch gives the distance as 35km, so that's an average of 91.3kph on a journey that's 60% motorway. Just in case you think there's a bounty for reporting me! They also claim it'll take 31 minutes, so what the hell do they know...

** Have you ever been passed by one on the motorway doing less than 4 times the speed of light? Thought not!
