I believe this is a Nakajima Ki-43,  a tactical Japanese fighter plane designed by Hideo Itokawa.  The Nakajima Ki-43 was designed to be subtle, which explains why it had a much lighter build. The elusive land craft was a favorite for most kamikaze missions conducted by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force.  Before the Nakajima Ki-43’s official retirement in 1945, about 5,919 of them had been manufactured.
