two little chess pawns?

sorry for the blur on this, but I enjoyed rediscovering this item so much that I had to share.
They are earplugs, given to my grandfather who was in RAF as an engineer.  He was an extremely detail-oriented kind of person, which is what we want in engineers, and so of course he preserved these, clean and in their proper box and with his name neatly written inside the lid.
What a delight to find!
