Looking at walls
Today, is the last day of this trip and I am taking photos of Lerwick's retaining walls.
There are many new houses built on the steep slopes to the north of the town and a variety of walls and terracing has been used. I'm recording some of these for the cohousers back in Orkney. Our little terrace of houses with be cut into a sloping field and we have been debating recently what our options might be.
It's all interesting and so much to learn.
Extra of a much higher wall behind a row of houses, which looks as if it might be oppressive. Unfortunately I didn't have time to find a resident and ask their opinion.
The wind is down and it looks as if it'll be a smooth crossing tonight. Fingers crossed.
