what a lovely day

I socialized last weekend and made a friend.
I socialized today and had a great time. It was a group of intelligent, interesting, funny women hiking to a dam, pretending the trip organizer was a serial killer. 
It is also so much easier once you've met some of the people. 

Unfortunately I also learned that there have been a few recent murders of lesbians camping, two in Utah, two in Shenandoah. I hadn't even heard of them. I had mentioned how much safer I felt camping in my car in Shenandoah than I ever did in a tent. It isn't even the first murder of lesbians in Shenandoah. 

There was an explosion at the Tonenkoe farm in Russia's Belgorod region. Poorly trained soldiers handle ammunition poorly. Firefighters spent four hours trying to put out the fire. Just days earlier another fire had broken out in Belgorod - this was at the tank repair facility. 

The UK has decided to send 14 of the Challenger 2 tanks. (Another story says 12.)

Sweden announced it would send Archer self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine.
Homeward Trails Animal Rescue in Fairfax Station, Virginia, worked with the nonprofit Breaking the Chains to bring 32 cats from Ukraine to the US for adoption.
