Blue badge birdwatching

When I used to volunteer in the shop at the local Staffordshire Wildlife Trust reserve, I had a certain book drawn to my attention. It was the Blue Badge Guide to places where you could park and watch for wildlife.

I thought it was a brilliant idea. I knew quite a few people for whom this was a very helpful suggestion.

I knew there was one place in Kings Bromley where you could park in an official lay-by and see the river from your window.

On my way home from a lovely Sunday lunch with my niece and nephew and their families, I pulled over to take a look.

I saw an egret, a young swan, and, if I’d spent longer there as it grew dusk, I’m sure I’d have seen more.
