Colours and shadows

Today I had no idea what I was going to shoot, on my walk nothing was presenting itself, it was bright, sunny and cold so I just thought I would enjoy the walk.  Walking past some shops I saw this, attracted by the colour.  But isn't it strange that you don't notice features until after you have taken the image.  What struck me was the subtle shadow created by the pot plant, a black shadow on a black background.  Well this is my image for the day and the story behind it.
