Slow worm
Found this beautiful specimen of Anguis fragilis on the unpaved road close to my office today. I think it was a female - they are bigger than the male ones.
This lizard is often thought to be a snake - no wonder since it hasn't got any legs. If you find one in your garden - be kind to it and it'll consume lots of the slugs and insects that might be a threat to your beloved garden plants.
