It was a tradition in Glasgow's Barlinnie Prison for prisoners to stop what they were doing and stand in silence whenever a fellow inmate was executed. When Peter Manuel was executed, they all continued eating and chatting over through breakfast. Such was the degree to which this monster was despised.
