Whistlers

There is a small knot of ducks in the holla'. These are goldeneyes but we call them whistlers. They are diver ducks and feed in shallow waters around 20 ft. of less. They nest in tree cavities in the boreal forest of North America. When females (brown in color) are around males display by stretching the head backward against their back and then popping their heads forward. A fun sight to see. Sugar and I spotted these ducks on our walk this afternoon. The river has so much to offer besides a good fresh meal!
