The Op
Today I had my operation on my hand - Dupuytrens Fasciectomy.
Dupuytrens Contracture is a condition where scar-like tissue forms just beneath the skin of the fingers and the palm of the hand. it mainly affects the little finger and the ring finger. Over time the fibrous tissue contracts and forces those fingers to curl. If they curl too far then the only course of action is amputation - hence the op now to avoid that.
The Op was under a general anaesthetic with a local nerve blocker to manage pain post op. the hand has to be above the heart until the wounds start to heal. Fun times ahead!
