Get Organised Again!

Thanks to a reminder from Pleach we were able to attend the Happy New Year organ recital by John Kitchen.

Celebrations began in the foyer where (at the insistence of John himself) we were offered, instead of complimentary coffee, mulled wine - and very nice it was.

Suitably mellow we enjoyed a selection of pieces from the C19, with one from the C20, by Benjamin Britten, appropriately called A New Year Carol. Still unfamiliar with the Optio's controls, I inadvertently took this by flash, during an encore of the Radetzky March, while everyone else was clapping in time, as per the Proms, so I don't think anyone minded.

The bright, clear morning had given way to rain so after a coffee and conversation (but no purchase of books) in Waterstones. we bade farewell and headed home, looking forward to future recitals.
