Lochielair
The ruined Steading at Lochielair where following the 'Disruption' of 1843 members of Pitsligo Parish Church who decided to form a Free Church held their Sunday services in bad weather.
The 'Free Kirkers' here were mainly fishermen and their main grievance in leaving the Church of Scotland was that they wished to select their own minister rather than having the minister imposed upon them by the heritors- usually wealthy landowners.
The Steading is located close to the shore over looking the Bay of Lochielair which looked idyllic this morning but is incredibly wild in a storm.(extra)
