helicopter seeds

these are the fluttering maple seed pods that don't fall but instead they dance and swoop and swirl their way to the ground.

when i was a little girl, i used to play with them for hours.

and i also remember that, for some unfathomable reason, we used to attach them to the tip of our noses like very strange mustaches.
