Treecreeper #5

After a poor start in the rain, it turned out to be a lovely day at RSPB Burton Mere. We clocked up 54 different species, which is a record for us at that site. It added 23 new birds to this years list bringing us up to 68 so far.
The rain cleared after about an hour, so we were able to move from the visitor centre to the rest of the reserve, and we had some nice sightings, Common Redpoll, Goldcrest, Spotted Redshank, Great White Egret, but my favourite shot of the day was this Treecreeper that we found just outside the visitor centre posing nicely in the afternoon sunshine.
We were on 49 birds in total for the day and I told my husband that we weren't leaving until we'd got 50 and as we headed to final part of the reserve to try and catch up with the gold and greenfinches, there it was creeping up the tree. A lovely 50th bird of the day. We also added the two finches, redwings and a stonechat.
I have added a grainy shot of both the goldcrest and a redpoll as extras showing what a huge difference the light makes. They were both in quite dark light when we saw them.
A thoroughly enjoyable day and a great boost to our slow start to the birding year.
