Red-bellied Woodpecker
A female Red-bellied Woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus) visited today. They are much larger than the Downy Woodpecker, and tend to be aggressive toward the smaller birds. This one scared away all of the other birds at the feeders before enjoying some suet. I have seen this species several times, but this is the first time I have successfully photographed one.
