Inspired by a canary costume.
Canaries were used in mines from the late 1800’s to detect gases such as carbon monoxide which is deadly to humans and canaries alike. When the canary died, the miners knew it was unsafe for humans.
This canary costume was worn by my friend’a daughter in demonstrations against the proposed Cumbrian coal mine and at Extinction Rebellion protests in London against the use of fossil fuels.
A light- hearted way to enliven a very serious event.
