Rosefield Mills

Scotland is known for its tweed mills, though most of the large mills are now closed and many of the old mills are unfortunately in a poor state of repair, even though they once were very imposing buildings.
Much care and attention was paid in the design of the buildings. The Rosefield Mills are such an example of this "It has a frontage resembling the Doge’s Palace in Venice, apparently built in 1886 before Templeton’s in Glasgow (1889)." DUMFRIES: Rosefield Mills - Scottish Industrial Heritage Society (sihs.co.uk)
Unfortunately, the building is in a very poor state, though partly owned by the Dumfries Historic Buildings Trust. They are desperately trying to raise funds to have it restored, with the view of offering affordable housing, community spaces etc. It would be so fantastic if this came true.
