Polystyrene

Polystyrene chips - toxic quavers of the art world. Spent an hour or so this afternoon unpacking returned work from a gallery - four huge cardboard boxes containing a small quantity of ceramic objects perfectly wrapped in layers of bubble wrap but floating in an excess of polystyrene. Yuk. I wish people would stop using the stuff. Horrible to handle environmentally dangerous and completely unnecessary.
