Taxi!

I just love these trees in the dog field in winter!
Today I did a bit of dog sitting. Ivy's owner had to go for an eye test - he knows his eyesight has got worse and he fears the day has come when he will no longer pass the test, so he hasn't been sleeping well. He brought Ivy round and waited outside for the taxi. He cannot drive in poor light nor direct sunlight! Well Ivy was frantic! I've learnt from previous times to restrict her to one room or she will frantically go through the house and back yard looking for an escape! She had just settled when the doorbell rang. It was her owner! The taxi had not turned up! So I grabbed my coat and car keys, we put the dogs on their harnesses and we all got in my car. I was just about to pull out when a taxi went past us and turned round! So all out of the car and back in the house! I thought Ivy would never settle but in fact she did almost immediately! She lay next to me and kept pawing me for attention! She is one strong dog - much stronger than Oscar! Oscar kept licking her face but Ivy was not in the mood to play! He finally gave up and went to sit in the conservatory and Ivy lay next to me whilst I rubbed her tummy!
Sadly her owner will have to return next week for his eye test as he forgot his paperwork and the number that the opticians require from the DVLA. He said he would phone them with it but the number is specific to the day of the test. He did arrange an appointment during the day so he won't have to pay £40 for a taxi again! He is dreading losing his license and independence - I've told him I will act as his chauffeur for the field!
