Hush hush thought I heard you calling my name

Remember the libraries of old.

With the scary Librarians.  Prim and Proper with pursed lips from saying "Hush" soo much.

Troon has had..... three libraries that I can remember.

One was up Templehill,  very quiet, very still, very musty.  Very full of very annoyed Librarians.

It became the Dole Office and then became the Dentists Surgery.

The second was in betwix move from Dole office and this building.  It was on the second floor of the Town Hall.   I loved when it was there.  The Librarians were out of their comfort zone.  There was more noise.   There was less shushing.

I can't actually remember when this one opened. I probably still call it "the new library.

I was fine with the librarians in here, until November.

We were returning a book on a Monday evening and I dropped my book as I got out of the car.   It had a plastic cover on, so I wiped it and thought it was okay.

As I handed it over, I said, "i dropped this, outside,  I've wiped it, it's okay".   And she took it off me, put on her best "librarian face" and Said "I can't accept this back, you will have to replace it".

I then got the "You can't give me money, we don't accept money, you must buy it from Amazon or Ebay".

So I did.  And took the other book home with me.

When I finally found a copy of the book, I headed back in, terrified of having a wrong edition., despite it being of better quality that the original borrow, before the wet.

I handed it over, with the other one and explained to nice -non-strict librarian, that I had replaced the book because it got wet.

"Which one?", she said.  "Both of them are perfectly fine".   And himself jumped to my defense and said "well one of you lot was very particular about the state of it, and insisted."

Do you know what the problem was?   On the inside back page was a picture advert for another book - a damp and dirty image.   She had opened the book and thought that the picture was the dampness i had made.

Cheeky midden.

I'm still too scared to go back mind.

I just ran in tonight with Himself, nabbed a photo and ran out.
