Today's the day .......................... when the early bird caught the frog

I'm not very good first thing in the morning.

If I have to, I'm perfectly capable of getting up early - but, if like today when I didn't have to go to work, I'm not one to wake up at the crack of dawn and leap out of bed ready to greet the morn. And that's how I came to miss all the excitement that was going on here early today.

Just as well that Will is one of the early rising brigade - because, of course, this is his picture of the heron that came in search of a full english this morning.

Ah well - maybe it's fortunate that I was in blissful ignorance of the goings-on out at the pond because, to be perfectly honest, I think it probably would have put me right off mine ......................
