Milk White
After a day of light rain the ice on the lake had turned milk white. It was quite still and the reeds reflected in the meltwater and pools. It was a bit surreal.
Before I had even reached the lake I heard the sound of gulls screeching. Approaching, I saw them take to the air en-masse, circling in a mayhem. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough with my camera, the settings were all wrong and the birds all a blur.
Then they settled again on the ice and didn't make moves to repeat the display, so I photographed the reeds instead. When I looked up next they had all disappeared. Either they left quietly or I hadn't heard them.
