Inspired by the trunk of a tree.

Walking home in the rain today I spotted this tree trunk. I was fascinated by the way the bark had flaked off leaving a stunning pattern reminding me of traditional carving.
I haven’t worked out what the tree is yet. It’s deciduous and so has no foliage to give me a clue.
I must have a closer look tomorrow and see if there are any leaves or seeds lying on the ground that might give me a clue.
