Hardly a year goes by without several farm workers in the shire meeting untimely ends due to accidents. Mainly its tractors which cause the deaths. Incidents with power take offs, trailer hitches and toppling over seem common. Things fall on folk, they are drawn into machines and often as not a "beast" such as a cow simply turns on the hapless farmer for reasons best known to itself.

One local farmer drowned when his machine toppled into a flooded stream, another was crushed under the wheels of a fellow workers tractor. Incidents with chemicals are common as are injuries due to carelessness and the "make do" mentality on many farms. At least the survivors keep my local Chiropractors busy.

This rather large rusty oil tank seems like an accident waiting to happen
