Amsterdam Day 1

I'm staying here, the Doelen Hotel for the next 4 nights. I was pleased to hear that Rembrandt painted the Night Watch in this very building in 1642, apparently on the third floor. I am disappointed to be on the first floor! The painting hung here for a number of years before being moved. I will see the real thing tomorrow on a visit to the Rijks Museum. I thought it was a bit cold and miserable when I left Edinburgh this morning. Amsterdam is a lot colder!
