My VW

A picture of me in my 1303 S which I with help from my father refurbished 40 (!) years ago. Stripped it completely and painted it black. It got new Recaro seats, new wheels, steering wheel as well as a new powerful engine with four Dellorto carburettors. No choke.The exhaust system was ordered from a dealer in St.Barbara, California. We used nearly a year to rebuild it. The VW got a certain lovely bom bom sound. Mrs B used it. She woke up our near by neighbours when she drove to her job in the mornings. After a few years we sold it and she got a silent wee Nissan Micra.
