Making the most of a sunny day! Joanna, Aidan, Jess and I headed over to climb Burnswark , near Lockerbie.

This hill, whose distinctive shape can be seen for miles around, is a mine of historical interest as well as a fantastic place for a walk on a clear day, with 360 degree views over the surrounding countryside. There are the remains of a hill fort on its summit and two Roman camps, clearly seen to the north and south sides of the hill. Debate is ongoing about the role of these camps, but here is a fascinating talk for anyone who is interested in learning a little more.

We had a picnic on the top, admired the view, and talked about the PanAm Lockerbie disaster which happened on the 21st December 34 years ago.

More rain tomorrow...
