Broken Bridge

In 1988 a major train line, between Sydney and Brisbane through the New England region of NSW and the Granite Belt of SE Queensland, was closed. No trains run anymore. On the Queensland side of the border, the line is maintained, even though no trains run. There is no maintenance in NSW, and the photo shows the result. I photographed this today, just north of Tenterfield. Here is a link to a sad account of the demise of a once-important railway line.
