It’s a new dawn…
In the end we didn’t watch Glass Onion last night as we’d have had to stop viewing in the middle to welcome in the New Year. Instead we watched the Christmas episode of Two Doors Down. It was superb!
Heralded in the NY, just the two of us for the first time in….forever I think! Meanwhile outside the snow was piling down. It was very beautiful but causing me some concern incase it prevented travel to the family dinner planned for today. There’s no way David and I could manage a two and a half pound steak pie each!!!
In the end all was well and everyone made it to ours. Ele was feeling a little better and definitely made the right decision just to go to her bed last night.
Andrew, Nikki, Esme and Nikki’s mum arrived with their rescue greyhound Bonnie. She’s such a sweet, gentle dog. We introduced her and Lola, letting them have a runabout in the garden. David and Andrew then took them for a walk round the block. Bonnie is very shy and reserved and would have been happy to lie and snooze with Lola but of course Lola is the world’s bounciest, friendliest dog and all she wanted to do was play. She couldn’t understand why Bonnie didn’t want to reciprocate. I’m sure in a few months time, when Bonnie has learned how to play, they will be great friends.
Esme was looking like a little Angel in her party dress and happy to pose for me (still not used the big camera!) so she had to be my blip. Collage in extras so I have some fuller memories of the day.
Dinner went well and the steak pies were a great success. 10 out of 10 to our local butcher.
Poor Alan’s not had the best of days. Developed a temperature overnight was sick a few times and generally felt rubbish. He went back to bed for a couple of hours in the afternoon. He’s drinking lots, which is good but we started him on the antibiotic the GP prescribed last week just incase he needed one during the holiday period, so hoping that helps. This time last year he was just about to get covid so two years in a row he’s not had the best start. Really hoping he’s over it soon.
