No wheelie bins in Japan so you put your rubbish out on the day at the nearest designated spot to where you live under some sort of netting to stop the crows getting in the bags. Don't put your rubbish out too early, like the night before, because some nice person will come along open the bag, work out where you live, and kindly put it back on your doorstep for you. I speak from experience.
