Stop when the red light shows
And make sure your windows are closed
You're better being in town
When the Waterfall comes down
So stop when the read light shows
And make sure your windows are closed
When I first visited the Grey Mare's tail waterfall in the borders, I made up the above song. There were some traffic lights near the waterfall that seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, so I thought that they were there to let the waterfall across the road. That's why to have to stop and close your windows. I think I realised that this wasn't really possible even as a kid but sort of liked the idea.
Going back as an adult I was dismayed to find that the only traffic lights near the waterfall are over 7 miles away - makes me wonder if I just had no sense of distance as a child, or if there were temporary lights! Regardless, it was good to be back today especially as we thought it was going to beanother indoors day because of the forecast. Though I did have my own annoying song going around my head for most of the morning.
I thought I'd end up with a waterfall blip today, but there was a weird weather thing where the valley with the waterfall was in low cloud and low light, then just a little further up the track was the loch and the hills in good light and sunshine. The hills were looking pretty spectacular in a dusting of snow so they got it. Was really beautiful and very quiet.
Spotted a wild billy goat on the way up, had an unkindness of ravens flying overhead multiple times and then we saw at least five buzzards sat on fence posts on the motorway during the journey.
