Glendhu Bay

What a super doper day. No frost, no wind, no jersey for The Boss and a walk to excel (not the Microsoft one) in every way.
There was a bit of excitement on the way there as a large truck and trailer unit loaded with bales of hay, was trundling down the road trailing heaps of smoke and pulled up on the opposite side of the road followed by it's mate. It looked like the back of the deck had collapsed onto the back wheel and the resulting friction had done it's thing but by the time we returned back in the afternoon all seemed well and they were packing up to go again.

We actually parked at Glendhu Bay camping ground and for those who know this place you are in for a bit of a shock the next time you visit as all the large mature trees in the middle of the camp are gone and the area is being re designed for next year no doubt.

The walk was about 11 km there and back and all my friends were there with Peter and Grant getting special attention but I was disappointed when The Boss had to decline (not on my behalf I can tell you) when a lady, not familiar with the rules, offered me a sandwich. The Boss is a real pain sometimes as it smelt wonderful.
For the international set Glendhu Bay is one of the original camping grounds for Wanaka. It is about 10km down the road from the town but features direct lakeside access and it very popular in the holiday season with wall to wall camping. The Boss and Bossess stayed there on their Honeyearth (cloudy...no moon) and returned many times before deciding to buy into this town and ultimately live here. Well you would...wouldn't you?

Today's image looks like it was shot from a painting of the area by someone really famous but as you can see below it wasn't. It was just a super doper day.
