The Black Ivy
Woke up to terrible wet weather this morning.
Joined our family at the graveside of my parents-in-law. None of our children were able to attend my father-in-law’s funeral in April 2020 due to covid restrictions.
This was the first time we were all in Edinburgh at the same time so that we could visit the grave together.
It was a poignant moment, the second in as many days, but the rain was torrential and sadly curtailed things a bit.
They were such a dear, special couple.
We had booked a table at the Black Ivy on Bruntsfield links for us to share brunch.
We all went for a full Scottish skillet. Delicious. Our girls and sons-in-law were all introduced to tattie scones which they all enjoyed :)
Enjoyed a potter in Morningside where we used to live and then a visit to my aunt.
Later in the day, all 31 members of hubby’s side of the family met together in a tiny function room in a pub near the Kings Theatre in Tollcross for the first full family get together since 2015.
It was only for a couple of hours but it was a delight to be together and share time and fun together.
We head home in the morning.
It’s been an emotional week, totally exhausting but one in which we’ve spent time with all our family members on my side and hubby’s.
Grateful for the lovely, wonderful extended families we belong to.
