Pisa Mooring

Pisa Mooring is near Cromwell and we have driven past it thousands of times and never gone in to explore this community that has been developed on the shores of Lake Dunstan. I dropped Jill and Frida off and they biked/ran from Smiths way to Pisa Moorings- while I drove there and had an explore. It was developed in the 1990s, and obviously residents enjoy walking, biking, swimming and boating. It’s a little “man made”, but very pleasant. I picked up Frida, and Jill continued biking to Cromwell.

We then visited Dunedin friends who have a holiday home in Cromwell. Had a lovely afternoon catching up over tea and Christmas cake.

Ate outside tonight until we were driven indoors by music from young people who are camping on their grandparents property over the fence. We don’t think it will be a problem for too long! Down town Wānaka is hideous.
Our normal population is about 16,000 residents and swells by an additional 20,000 people over New Year (I think that’s the correct questimate). Mostly young people….it’s our busiest time of the year! Thank goodness we can avoid going down town- we have enough supplies to last us quite a while!
