Sunday afternoon in the park
This was a surprisingly pleasant day. J wanted to be dressed in her comfy shorts and tee shirt: the hospital gown has been easier to manage with everything else that's been going on, but it was so nice to see her in her clothes again. She coped well with her lunch (macaroni cheese again!) and her medication, and while she napped in the morning I did an online supermarket order, which felt refreshingly normal. Later, she asked to go to the park again, and we found a lovely Sunday afternoon atmosphere which made me think of Seurat's Dimanche à la Grande Jatte. A lively jazz band was performing in the bandstand, with quite a lot of people seated around it and many more scattered on the grass in groups of various sizes with their rugs, chairs and picnics. There were a couple of parties, one for a young child's birthday, and lots of dogs. We had spend months avoiding crowds, but people were sufficiently spread out to make it easy to avoid close proximity and it was fun to have so much to observe. The weather was perfect for sitting under a tree, and we watched the ducks and moorhen in the pond and were struck by the moorhen's large feet as they emerged onto the path. It's been so good to have this lovely park next door to the hospital.
I've now back-blipped that last of the August hospital days which were missing from my journal.
