Treasured gifts
One of the pleasures of Christmas for me is bringing out much-loved and familiar decorations. This Christmas tree was sent to us a few years ago from Poland, and it was made by our daughter-in-law’s sister. Our daughter-in-law had gone home to Poland for a quick visit one autumn, and while she was there, she and her sister collected the pine cones from a nearby forest. A few weeks later her sister sprayed them green and stuck them to a styrofoam cone. The little ginger biscuits were home baked, and all the decorations were stuck on with a glue gun. It arrived here just before Christmas, beautifully wrapped and safely packed in a large box. The glass bauble at the top was tucked into the packing box in its original box as well to protect it, and the whole tree arrived intact without a single breakage.
We love getting the tree out each Christmas and enjoying the love that went into its making. It stands on a beautiful circular crocheted mat, which was made by our daughter-in-law’s mother, so you can see that they are a very creative and loving family.
