Pavemement Poetry

Almost forgot about Blip today!

Another damp miserable day so this is just a shot of the wet pavement.

But not just any wet pavement. It has an engraved poem by the late Edwin Morgan, a former poet laureate. Its a tribute to the former trades and craftsmen of the area.

Fourteen heavy hammermen
Thirteen cork-heeled cordiners
Twelve well-read weavers
Eleven blistered baxters
Ten toty tailors
Nine maroculous maltsters
Eight cock-a-hoop coopers
Seven sinewy sawyers
Six sticky skinners
Five fiery fleshers
Four sturdy stonemasons
Three blossoming bonnetmakers
Two Godly gardeners
One bonny barber
