Boxing Day
This is one of my favourite days of the year, other than holidays, because the hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations is behind me and the leftovers from Christmas dinner make an easy bubble and squeak tea. So, I have a day of pottering, a bit of this and a bit of that, with feet put up between times and a dog walk here and there. It was on a walk with Bertie this afternoon when I was appreciating the peace and quiet (no wind, no cars on the road, no chainsaws) when an aeroplane approached. At first I thought it was a local plane going out to Barra as it was a prop rather than a jet, so I had a look on my Flightradar24 app only to discover that it was a flight from Glasgow to Reykjavik. A few minutes later, another plane, this time a jet, passed over in the opposite direction. Usually, a southbound flight would be from somewhere in the USA so I was surprised to find that it was one from Tokyo to Paris. I find it fascinating to follow the destinations of some of these planes thousands of feet above me. Maybe one day I’ll be on one of them myself.
