Anything You Can Do...
...I can do better! I reckon this is what Oscar was thinking!
We went to Cotehele for our morning walk - which was rather late in the morning due to the rain. When we got there the carpark was empty! Combination of the rain only just having stopped and people busy doing things in the kitchen perhaps?! So we had a lovely walk along the lit path and Oscar could be off lead all the way to the weir. The shame was no-one got to see him in his Christmas attire!
Once home we did group activities in the kitchen - which resulted in our meal at 2.30! We had the same as we always do - no meat just lots of veg done in different ways - brussle sprouts in cream with almonds, braised celery with chestnuts, slow cooked cabbage with lemon! The usual roast potatoes and parsnips, yorkshire puddings, cranberry sauce made by my sister, and this year a caramalised gravy from the deli. We had bought a filo covered cranberry, chestnut and chickpea bake - which I discoverd had chilli flakes so I stuck with the stuffing with clementine and chestnuts! We both agreed everything tasted better than previous years - maybe as we had had a walk and a late lunch!
We opened our presents as and when we felt like it - these are two from my sister - both handmade. The shawl is just a marvel - designed by Stephen West it involved panels being done in various stitches by picking up stitches from previous panels. The Gingerbread box smells delicious!
We watched Christmas Strictly and The Pottery Throwdown - both put a smile on our faces! However we watched it in separate rooms - the kitchen and the dog for me, the living room and the cat for sister!
A very lovely, stress free Christmas day - perfect!
