there wifes & children
It's rare for church grave-yards to survive in this part of Lanarkshire - this one, in Rutherglen, is in middle of Main Street, making it more surprising and welcome, and even better, it's always open. I couldn't see any stone earlier than late eighteenth century, although I do intend to have a more thorough look on a less wet and windy day. I like this one from 1800 with its quirky spelling and random letter-cases, and the hint of an unusual story - why did the two families share a lair and a single stone?
