The man who didn't turn up yesterday to instal the new induction hob very kindly arrived at mid-day and installed it (his van had broken down). It wasn't until we started to prepare food for this evening that we discovered that the only pans in the house that work on the hob are one frying pan and one wok.

Since we'd already worked out how to prepare Christmas dinner tomorrow without any rings at all it didn't feel like a major setback.
